About Your Debit Card
As of Feb. 1, a change in debit card processing means you could incur a $1 fee when using the card at a point of purchase terminal. This does not affect ATM transactions.
It's very simple to avoid the fee. Just select "Credit" when swiping your card. It's that easy.
Not sure which is which? When you choose the "Debit" option, you are asked for your PIN. When you choose "Credit," you sign your name and you're done. At some merchants, if your purchase is below a certain amount you won't even have to sign. And at the gas pump, you swipe the card, select "Credit," and fill 'er up.
DFCU is always looking for ways to lower our operating costs so we can continue to give you lower loan rates and higher yields on your savings. The fees charged to us for debit transactions continue to increase, so the fairest response is to ask members who use that option, instead of all members, to share the cost.
